Nothing motivates children for the concert experience
as a visit from a professional musician at school. In the week
prior to a Klassik for Kids concert, Monique Mead and trained orchestra
members visit their young audiences at school. Musicians perform
for the class, talk about their instruments, and answer questions.
They
listen to “musical inventions” the students have
prepared, and offer praise and suggestions. Then they rehearse
the piece that will be played/sung at the concert by audience and
orchestra. Students receive posters or autograph cards, which the
musician promises to sign in the lobby after the concert.
